Good Stuff

Asri got her port-o-cath removed on Friday the 9th of July 2010. Another thing to "tick off" the list. It was "Great Success". Canterbury of NZ (CCC) just donated an NZ Warriors jersey which has just been signed by the players and I hope to auction it off with all proceeds to be donated to the cause through my fundraising site/link, http://fundraiseonline.co.nz/daaraparkinson/ . Already over $1100 raised and I still have 6 months left until I shave my beard off! Anyway, until next time....

New update

So much for keeping on top of this. Anyway I have decided to grow a beard to support our NZBCF (New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation). Check out my fundraising site for the beard at www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/daaraparkinson to see how you can make a donation or join my facebook group "Daara's Grizzly Beard Challange" and keep up to date with the progress on how the beard is growing. Tell your friends and family to join and make them aware of what you can do as an individual to fight breast cancer!
So my wife has finally finished all of her treatment (YUSS) and Herceptin and has been given the all clear. Now we sit back and relax for a bit. I tell you it has been one hell of a journey!
I will try a little harder to keep you upto date too :) Dont forget to keep an eye on my links as well!
Until next time...

The brief intro

Hello blog world. My name is Daara Parkinson. I have basically started this blog site to acknowledge being a supporter of someone who has been hit by the 'C' Bomb, hence the pink theme I have chosen. My wife, Asri, was diagnosed with breast cancer late in 2008 (around December) and, as I have wanted to share the journey of being a supporter with others, I thought what better way of doing it than on the world wide web.

I will be continually updating this blog with as much as I can remember in detail from the day of diagnosis right through to the present day.

Btw, watching Julie & Julia inspired me to blog, I don't know how, it just did.... If you've seen it, you will know what I'm talking about.
